What's a good, gentle shampoo for my chihuahua puppy's sensitive skin?

Shampooing won't affect the giardia. I don't have a preference on shampoos, just as long as they are made for pets instead of humans to decrease risks of irritating the skin. Aloe or oatmeal ingredients are soothing to irritated skin.

While I don't have personal experience with the CHI for Dogs products, the ingredients in their products look safe and pretty standard for shampoos and conditioners. I wouldn't have any problem using them. That being said, every dog is a little different and if you notice any negative affects such as redness, irritation, itching, flaking, hair loss, etc. I would discontinue use of the product and switch to something different.

Baby shampoos do tend to be fairly gentle for puppies, but any dog can be sensitive to any shampoo and it’s possible that it caused irritation or dried his skin out more. You may want to see if your vet carries a dog specific shampoo like Dermallay or HyLyt. It is common for young puppies to have dryer skin and act itchy, and most outgrow it within a few months. If he has developed skin wounds I’d recommend rechecking with your vet to make sure he doesn’t have a skin infection or parasites that weren’t obvious on his previous exam.

I saw some good reviews as well so it sounds like a good product. I also like HyLyt shampoo. To prevent too much water from getting in her ears you should avoid spraying any water around her ears. You could take a small bowl and gently rinse the area around her ears and face while covering her ears and then use a towel to dry the area thoroughly.

These symptoms can be from a yeast infection of the skin. I suggest you try to use this medicated shampoo on her. Lather the shampoo, let it sit on her for 10 minutes and then rinse. In between baths you can use this medicated mousse. I recommend you bathe her twice a week.
