You can take Leia into the vet to have it scanned. They will have a microchip scanner. Give the vet's office a call to discuss bringing her in, it may even be able to be done as a tech appointment. I hope this helps!

If the chip ID is called in, this could trip an alert so you may be contacted. Additionally, in most cases, most veterinarians will not euthanize a sick pet simply for financial reasons. No, this is not a service that Petco generally provides. Most veterinary clinics do not offer this service either. I would call around to veterinary clinics in your area to find out for sure. You can also contact the Humane Society, as they are the ones that typically do this for animals. You can have a microchip administered and have all of this information embedded into the microchip for identification as well. This service is provided at most veterinary hospitals and Vetco clinics to provide this service as well. Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! All microchips that get implanted are sterilized to prevent infection problems when they are inserted. Once implanted into a pet that microchip would be considered contaminated and would not be suitable to implant into another pet. I hope this answers your question. There are tracker devices that you can place on dog collars but the problem with these is that anyone can take the collar off or the device could fall off or be taken off of the collar. Just do a Google search and we can see the many devices available but I would recommend that you stick with the implantable microchips and keep them registered with a microchip service that houses the data. Always keep your address up to date if you move with that microchip registration service. That way they can contact you if your pet gets lost and is scanned for a chip.
