My bulldog puppy's congestion is worsening. Should I call the vet?

This difficulty breathing could be related to his bronchitis, but the conformation of his nostrils and soft palate could be contributing to it as well. Because of his flat face, Jax will have an undersized throat and breathing passages, and when there is inflammation in the airways, it will be even harder for him to breathe. If he's congested, he may need bronchodilator, and you'd have to speak to your vet for a prescription for that. At home, you you can also try using a humidifier or bringing him into the bathroom with the door closed while you take a hot shower - the steam and humidity help to break up congestion and temporarily relieve symptoms associated with respiratory infections. When he's better from the bronchitis, it would be worth a discussion with your vet about his facial conformation. If he has stenotic nares, an elongated soft palate, and everted laryngeal saccules, having surgery done to correct this things will help with his breathing in the future.

Poor Diesel. The type of gagging and coughing makes me worry about an upper respiratory infection. Unfortunately, they do not have to be around any type of other animals or board facilities to contract this. Since he is starting to become lethargic, I would go ahead and try to get him in to see the vet. The vet will be able to listen to his heart and lungs to ensure everything sounds okay. They will also be able to determine if this is just upper respiratory or if his heart could be involved or if this has progressed to a pneumonia. It sounds like Arya may have a mild upper respiratory infection - this is a common problem in puppies, and usually resolves on its own within 7-14 days. If her only real symptom is that she sounds congested in the mornings, you could try bringing her into the bathroom with you each morning while you take a hot shower - the steam and humidity often help to break up congestion and temporarily relieve symptoms. Using a humidifier in the room where she sleeps at night may also be helpful. If she develops other symptoms such as coughing, acting lethargic, or not wanting to eat, or if it's been more than 14 days with no improvement, I would recommend taking her to the vet for an exam, since she may need prescription antibiotics to treat the infection.

Poor girl. The only thing you can do in the meantime is to try and unclog her airway. You can do so by using a humidifier or placing her in the bathroom with the hot shower running for 5-10 minutes once or twice a day.
