Should I use Bravecto or a monthly topical flea & tick treatment?

I would wait at least 2 weeks after your applied the Hearts medication before giving him the Bravecto. In addition to the extra flea preventative, you should also consider treating your environment for fleas. This includes washing bedding, vacuuming, and washing any clothing Brody may have direct contact with. This will hopefully reduce the flea burden in your environment to help you get control of the fleas. Only about 5% of the flea problem is what we see on our pets, the rest of the problem lies in our environment as eggs and immature life stages of fleas. When vacuuming, remember to not reuse the same vacuum bag. When spraying your environment with insecticide, remember to use products that are safe for pets and even then, if possible, remove them from the environment for 1-2 hours. Nexgard is an excellent product that provide tick protection in addition to flea prevention. Bravecto is a similar product, but it provides coverage against fleas and ticks for 3 months. All of these medications require a prescription. I would recommend discussing them with your vet to determine the best fit for Charlie.

You may wish to consider a product like Capstar or even a topical flea medication in addition to the Bravecto. Products like Frontline Gold, Vectra and Advantix tend to work well. The flea life cycle sometimes necessitates that you also treat your household and even your yard to fully eradicate the infestation. Regular laundering of pet bedding can help but you may still end up needing to have an exterminators help. Finally, make sure all pets in the household are treated with a safe, quality flea preventative as often house cats that have not been treated can harbor fleas. Good luck!

Yes, you can give bravecto. However, in addition to giving this medication, you will likely need to treat your environment for fleas as well. This can be achieved by spraying your yard and house with a flea insecticide and washing her bedding and clothing at least 2-3 times weekly. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Bravecto is a good topical that last for 3 months but is a prescription. The change in duration helps control the environment and get ahead of the life cycle. The majority of a flea problem comes from the environment so it is essential to treat that area also. You may also look in to a Seresto collar that is not a prescription and it can last up to 8 months.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I like Bravecto for flea and ticks. It is a topical that works for 3 months. Then I would use interceptor monthly for heartworm and intestinal parasites. Or you can use Advantage Multi and the Seresto collar for the ticks. But you are right there isn't a product that gets everything for dogs or cats. Have a great day!
