Is Bravecto flea medicine safe for ferrets? What are safe options?

Hi there! Both are quite safe and effective in my experience. Bravecto covers fleas and ticks, while Advantage Multi covers heartworms, intestinal parasites, and fleas. You could use either one (or both) depending on what you need in your area.

Frontline is off-label use for ferrets, but is safe and effective. You best wear some rubber gloves and spray the frontline on the gloves and then rub it on the ferrets, including legs and tail and head (be careful not to get Frontline into their eyes. If you think you have fleas in your house you also need to follow the following instructions: Unfortunately fleas only hop on the body of your pet when they want to feed, then they hop off again and stay in your pet's environment. So you need to treat all pets in the household as well as the environment (which contains the fleas, their eggs and larvae). Flea treatment:  1) Get some flea medication such as a Flea spray or a spot on from a pet shop or your veterinarian and apply monthly 2) get flea powder, put some in your vacuum cleaner bag and vacuum your house and furniture and also non-carpeted areas frequently to remove flea larvae and eggs which live off house dust., Dispose of the bag in the trash outside. Hot-wash all the pet's bedding, If you do this diligently for a few months you will get rid of the fleas.

Hi there. Yes, Bravecto is an excellent product - it's extremely safe, and very effective. It's the main flea medication that we use at my clinics, and what I am currently using for my own three dogs. In terms of side effects, we occasionally have clients report some mild lethargy or stomach upset for a day or two after giving it, but most dogs have no side effects at all. Nexgard or Credelio would also be reasonable choices.

Hello. For the most part, this should be safe. I have seen cautions about waiting 24 hours to 1 week, but the longer wait may be to separate possible individual side effects, such as vomiting. I think, just to be absolutely sure, waiting another day or so before using the Bravecto would be prudent. Bravecto is an excellent product and is currently one of the most recommended flea and tick products by veterinary dermatologists. This is what I use for my own dogs and I think would be a great option for Willow. Best of luck!

I recommend you consider using a product called Capstar which is to kill a lot of fleas at once to complement a flea preventative product like Advantage. You can go ahead and give another dose of Advantage now as well. I would not give up on Advantage just yet. Continue to use it for now as this flea may be was a one time occurrence and the Advantage was still being effective. Another option is switching to Bravecto now though again Advantage may still be effective so it may be best to exhaust its use. Good luck and have a great day!

Thanks for reaching out about Fezbomb. Topical flea medications are probably not recommended with heart condition. Has the heart condition been diagnosed? A flea comb and treatment of the environment would probably work best. Treating all other pets in the house is necessary. Vacuum and clean bedding often to decrease re-infection.
