Best dog food for GSD and Rottweiler puppies of different ages?

I recommend a large breed puppy food for your GSD puppy, and a medium breed puppy food for the 10 month old puppy. I can understand it may be a pain to have two separate foods, but large breed puppies have different nutritional needs due to their size. Brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I feed my own dogs Iams, and they love it. Good on you for taking them off the raw food diet! Best of luck.

A Rottweiler is not a giant breed so you can feed any good quality complete puppy food for large dogs. Giant breed puppy food is formulated to ensure that dogs do not grow too fast, so would not give your puppy the required nutrition for its size.

Hello. You are absolutely correct. The number of foods, & the claims they make are mind numbing. There is some truth that some breeds do seem to do better with certain diets, but in the case with GSD, the important thing is to not allow explosive growth due to their susceptibility to develop dysplasia. So, the RC food probably modifies calories, which is what is already done in any large breed puppy food. You can switch to the RC, but staying with the Hills Large Breed will do exactly the same thing. It is all, in this case, marketing & while I do love & recommend RC as well as Hills, I think RC is just pushing for more shelf space. And they do great photography with the breeds. Both of these foods are high quality, either one would be a great choice. Royal Canin makes a food specifically for German Shepherds, so you might consider giving this a try if you're unsure which one to choose :)

There are various opinions about Taste of the Wild and I personally prefer not to feed it. Since your dog is still a puppy I would strongly recommend feeding one of the reputable scientifically computed brands such as Hill's Science Diet , Royal Canine or Iams. Feed a puppy feed suitable for the size and age and your puppy will have the best start in life. What you feed into Bruno now, will pay off later in that you will have a dog who developed and grew up to his best genetic potential without health issues caused by insufficient nutrition.
