Is Beaphar salmon oil healthy for dogs? What's the best brand?

This is not a product I am familiar with, and that could be because most of our veterinarians at Petcoach are based in the US and this is a product from overseas. If you want to use this product I would recommend asking your dog's veterinarian if the product is recommended. If it's a veterinary products, there should be instructions on the label for how much to give each day, depending on Joey's weight.

I really like the American journey wild Alaskan salmon oil product for this purpose. I think this product can help Buddy a lot with his hair coat. Good luck!

Salmon oil belongs in the category of Omega 3 fatty acids, & while the direct pharmacological action is unknown, omega-3s do have anti-inflammatory properties & have proven useful in a number of conditions, including renal failure. Essential Fatty Acids are always a good idea in my opinion since they are part of every living cell of the body and they are anti inflammatory. I don't know of any diseases where fish oil is not recommended. One thing you want to be careful of is the quality of the oil and whether contaminants (mercury, etc) are present. Supplements are not regulated (in the United States) so the quality varies significantly. I would choose my source of fish oil carefully and follow the directions based on body weight.
