Can I bathe my dog 4 weeks after ACL surgery if she's healing well?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 8 years and 9 months old

How long post ACL repair til i can bathe Chyna? It's been about 4 weeks and she has dissolvable sutures. Healing well and walks on it fine.

If it's been four weeks since her surgery, it should be perfectly fine to go ahead and bathe her now. It would be a good idea to use a non-slip mat of some kind in the tub to help make sure that she doesn't re-injure the leg, but otherwise there should be no problem at all with giving her a bath :)

If the sutures are out, Chyna can be bathed. If the weather cooperates, bathe her outside where she can stand without slipping. If you need to use a tub, use a mat or a towel under her to prevent slipping.
