How to keep my assistance dog calm during stressful train travel?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Labrador | Male | neutered | 9 years and 11 months old

I'm travelling on train with my Labrador next week. What can I give him to keep him calm whilst on the train because there will be lots of kids on the train and he will want to play with them but he's my assistance dog and sits next to me usually My vet says it's up to me if I want to go ahead because he is my epilepsy alert dog so he won't give me anything but my husband is with us so he's doesn't need to be alert. We did nothing last time and he was stressed the whole way. Many thanks Andria

Hi there. You could try an over-the-counter natural calming supplement like Zykene or Composure prior to the trip, along with an Adaptil pheromone collar. Neither of these products should cause any significant drowsiness, and both are very safe.
