Is almond butter safe for my dog to take her pills? Any risks?

Even though you are concerned about Barni having a food allergy you can still put the pills in little bit of peanut butter or even try a marshmallow. The most typical type of allergies are to proteins like beef or chicken. You could most likely get Barni to take the pills with these. I hope that helps

Poor Bella! The peanut butter may have caused the diarrhea. Withhold food for 24 hours. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet in small, frequent amounts. Feed bland until the stool is normal then transition slowly to her regular diet. In the future, use something other than peanut butter to get her to take her pills. Cheese may work or a bit of hot dog. Use a small amount of either, just enough to hide the pill. You can also buy Pill Pockets from your vet or from Petco. These are convenient treats used to give medication. If the diarrhea doesn't resolve, see your veterinarian for an exam.

Hello. I am so glad you checked to make sure the peanut butter did not contain any xylitol. Xylitol can cause a dog's blood sugar to drop dangerously low, so it is important to avoid this. Too much PB for Chewy has the same risk as too much PB for us. It will make you fat. So, try to place no more than a teaspoon in the ball, & not a heaping teaspoon & do this only once a day. A little bit of peanut butter here and there to encourage your pet to either take special medication or behave at the vet is ok to do. However I wouldn't make it a go-to treat because it is very fattening and can also lead to pancreatitis (inflamed pancreas) over time if it is given in excess. The almond milk could cause some intestinal distress but the other ingredients shouldn't be a problem. Honestly, I would not give a significant amount of anything (more than a few licks) on the basis that it could upset the nutritional balance of the rest of her diet.
