Can my 6-week-old puppy get vaccinated and what's the best food?

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the vaccination protocol used in India. You are listed as being in the US so I will comment on that. Here in the States, vaccines are generally given every 3-4 weeks starting at 6-8 weeks of age and continued until 16-18 weeks of age. Are you wanting to ship or travel with your puppy to India? Congrats! I would just schedule a wellness visit with your vet soon so they can make sure he is healthy and no obvious issues. I would make sure he is on a large breed puppy food and that he is eating 2-3 times per day. I would go ahead and start crate training him if you are planning to do this to help house break him. If his 1st set of shots were given before he was 6 weeks old, then there is a good chance your vet may want to repeat his 1st set of shots simply because any shots given before 6 weeks technically don't count. I recommend a good quality food like Hills puppy food for large breed dogs. That has all the nutrition he needs without giving him too much nutrients which can make him fat and cause bone problems from growing too fast. I don’t feed dogs wet food, it’s not necessary. You can moisten the dry for a week or two until he can chew it well. Personally I do not let puppies be around other unvaccinated dogs until they have completed their series of vaccinations at fourteen weeks. Congratultions on your puppies! We normally start vaccinating at 6 to 8 weeks of age. At 6 weeks of age we can start what some call the "distemper vaccine" or the "DAPP" (helps protect against Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Parvovirus, and Parainfluenza). The Bordetella vaccine is normally given after 8 weeks of age and the Rabies vaccine after 12 weeks of age. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Rio is super cute, congrats! I recommend Hill's, Royal Canin, Purina or Iams. I would call your local Petco to see what they offer. Here is what needs to happen: bring a stool sample and any records you were given to your first Vet visit, Rio will get his next DHPP vaccine 3-4 weeks after his first one was given by the breeder. If the breeder did not start his vaccines he needs to start them by 7-8 weeks of age. Petco will start them for you and tell you when you need to return. They get about 3-4 DHPP vaccines 3-4 weeks apart. The Rabies vaccine is given around 4 months of age, depending on the laws in your county. I hope this helps and I wish you and Rio the best!

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Vaccinations are required at 8 weeks, 12 weeks and 16 weeks of age. Your vet will tell you what vaccines are required in your country and area. Deworming is required every 2 weeks from the age of 2 weeks old, to 3 months old, and then monthly. As wonderful that it is that your family is vegetarian, dogs are not. Some diets that are vegetarian can be dangerous to dogs as they don't get some of the nutrients they required. I recommend that you get a dog kibble for Leo that is well balanced, and you can add vegetables to this if you like. Especially as a growing puppy, just rice and milk is NOT ok. They need a diet that has the proper nutrients in the right ratios. Please get a good quality puppy food. Best of luck with Leo! Have fun with him!

It's not an issue, just take him to the vet and have him vaccinated, he will need at least two vaccinations 4 weeks apart. regarding the food- try to switch to a different brand of food such as Royal canin.
