How much water should my 3-month-old puppy drink? Is it too much?

A healthy dog should not drink more than 60ml water/kg (2.2lbs) body weight/24hrs. So if your dog weighs 22lbs, he should not drink more than 600ml per 24 hours. If your dog drinks significantly more than that, then something is wrong. Since Coper is a very old dog, this could be a sign of kidney disease, Cushing's disease or diabetes. If it's a warm day out, or he just exercised, it's normal that he would be thirsty. A dog normally drinks 50-60ml per kg of bodyweight, so without knowing Reminton's weight, I can't say for sure if he is drinking an excessive amount. I would weight him, convert his weight to kg (divide his weight by 2.2), and multiple that number by 60 to get the number of mL he should be drinking per day. If he is drinking more than that, then that isn't normal, and I would take him into a vet for an exam.

My rule of thumb is approximately 30mL per pound. It isn’t always exact and that’s ok! So if she is 1.5-2 pounds then she would need about 45-60mL per day. There is 30 mL in an ounce so 1.5-2 ounces a day. This will vary depending on activity level (may drink more if active) and whether she eats canned food (will drink less because canned food has water in it). This should also increase as she grows. Based on the information you provided, Aurora should be drinking about 1/2 liter per day based on her body weight. Cute puppy. At 6 weeks of age this puppy should really already be on canned/dry puppy food. Most pets at this age can no longer properly digest milk replacement formula. I would go ahead and make that transition now over the next 1 week. Top food recommendations are: Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina or Eukanuba. Water requirements for dogs is around 1 ml/kg daily. Free access to water (in a bowl) usually ensures the pet drinks enough water. Chewing rocks and other strange objects is common in puppies. It is part of their oral exploration of their environment as they develop. It is also common while they are teething. Try not prevent the behaviour if you can by replacing the rocks with more appropriate chew toys. Most dogs need about an ounce of fluids per pound of body weight per day, so a 10-pound dog needs a bit over a cup of clean water daily. I would advise measuring this amount out in fresh water every morning. Then monitor if the bowl is empty by th end of the day. It is normal for a dog to spread out his drinking throughout the day. Hello, puppies in general have a higher demand of water per body weight. It does not always mean that your puppy is going to drink as much or more water than an adult dog in total volume, but the puppy will drink more water per pound than an adult dog.
