Now with young puppies (just like kids) they are growing and the body condition scoring doesn't matter as much, but we still don't want her to be very overweight. It is difficult to give you an exact weight that Rosie should be without seeing her and knowing how big her parents were full grown. She may be anywhere from 60-90 pounds by now. The key it to make sure she is on a large Breed puppy food and she is a healthy weight. This means when you look st her you can see her ribs but you can easily touch her and feel her ribs. Also, you should be able to appreciate a “waist” when you look at her from above and the side. If you don’t see a waist, she may be too heavy, but it is unlikely a puppy with become overweight. Nala is very cute! She needs a puppy formulated food, and brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. Puppies require higher amounts of protein, calcium, and calories than adult dogs to grow properly, and a puppy formulated food will provide that for her. Go out to a pet store and get a puppy food for her now. She should be fed three times a day until she is six months once, once in the morning, at noon, and the evening. The bag of food will tell you her daily recommended allotment of food, and divide that into three equal feedings. This weight sounds appropriate, because not all puppies fit within a weight chart. In fact we as veterinarians never use a chart when it comes to assessing puppies weight, but instead we examine the pets physical appearance (spine, ribs, hip bone, waist). If you say that Tyson looks fat, then chances are he is an appropriate weight. Also most puppies with weight concerns have a bit of loose stool or excessive vomiting associated with it, so if he is otherwise healthy with normal solid stools, then he is likely at an appropriate healthy weight and body condition score (BCS). If you do notice any of those other issues with him, then it is best to get him examined by your vet for a fecal test to check for possible intestinal parasites as the cause.

That is about right for the average beagle. More important is how that weight is distributed in terms of location and muscle vs fat. She looks cute and healthy. She also looks to be more of a field type lab which can be smaller than the more English show type labs. I expect her to mature around 50 lbs. or a little larger. Some dogs grow more slowly but will still reach their full normal mature weight, just later than other dogs.
