Can I use the same sponge for pet and human dishes without germ risk?

1. The only concern for human beings is the transmission of certain tapeworms. These are transmitted by fleas and incidental ingestion of the flea can cause infection. I would not be worried about roundworm, but fleas need to be treated as well as gastrointestinal worms. Normal hygiene precautions must be followed though (wash your hands). 2. There are intestinal parasites that are contagious to humans. These are hookworms and roundworms. They are contagious via fecal oral contact. Cleaning with regular cleaning products should take care of the problem. And also washing your hands before you eat. I have been in the veterinary profession for 16 years and have never gotten parasites myself. More than likely as long as you're cleaning regularly and washing your hands, you should be OK. Yes this can happen, especially with diseases like parvo. Make sure your dogs are fully vaccinated, and keep a separate set of clothes and shoes to use at the sanctuary, and change before coming into the home.

There is a possibility of contracting worms and other internal parasites such as giardia as well as bacterial infections from eating with hands which have not been washed after handling/feeding your pet. It is always recommended to wash hands both after handling animals and also before eating even if you have not

When you clean the litter box, wear gloves, then throw the gloves away and wash your hands. I would scoop the box at least once a day, and clean it once a week. You can touch and love them.
