How do I get my cat's tail unstuck from a sticky fly trap safely?

My cat got his tail stuck to a very sticky non toxic fly trap. How can we get it off?

You could rub some vegetable or olive oil onto the area. Massaging the oil into the fur will help unbind the glue. Then rinse with warm water. You could also try to bathe the tail with dawn dish soap and see if that works. You could also just shave the fur with clippers to remove the glue.

    I would try using olive oil or cooking oil. Place Oreo in the kitchen sink, and gently rub the oil into the glue. Continually rubbing the oil in the glue should help loosen up the glue. After you've worked the oil into the fur for around 10 minutes, use a comb to gently comb out the glue. Continuing apply the oil working into the glue, and then using the comb until the glue is out. Once the glue is out, gently wash Oreo's tail with Dawn dish soap to the oil out and dry it.

    Should the glue really be stuck in there, you may have to shave the glue out. Don't worry, the fur will grow back :-)
