Kitten bathed after flea treatment. Should I reapply Advantage?

Wait at least one more week. Be sure to apply the liquid directly to the skin, not on the fur. If Cricket has been bathed, or will be bathed, wait at least 2-3 days before or after a bath. These topicals use the oils in the the skin to spread. A bath removes the oils which can affect the treatment. Use the appropriate size for her weight. Don't forget to treat the environment, since most fleas live off of the pet. Vacuum everywhere and dispose of the bag or empty the canister outdoors immediately after. Wash all bedding in the hottest water allowable by fabric and dry in the dryer. Use a cat safe area treatment to prevent reinfestation.

The two treatments are not closely related but I would still recommend 7-10days before reapplying. You do not mention why you washed off the advantage but I would recommend combing with a flea comb to remove fleas in the meantime if still present. It may be worth considering using comfortis or capstar tablets if he does not tolerate spot on medications (it is often the carrier and not the active ingredient that pets are sensitive to)

Since it's been two weeks since you late applied the Advantage, you can try another dose of it. He can also have Capstar again. Be sure to disinfect your home, as that will be a continuing source of fleas. Wash his bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. Hi and thank you for your question on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Advantage II is not safe to use twice in 48 hours. The product safety specifications indicate that it should not be applied more often than once every 7 days for cats. I would not want to overload her system with more topical product in case she received a full dose and all of the dose was absorbed. In a week, it would be okay to apply another application. Dogs are not supposed to get wet for at least 24 hours after application of a topical flea medication, and more than likely it was washed off during the bath. You can reapply the flea treatment, and I would give them Capstar given you have seen fleas. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas within 30 minutes, and it's safe to be given at the same time as the spot on treatment. Just as a note, I would not recommend using Frontline. In my experience (and from the experience of many colleagues), there is a resistance to Frontline, and you may not get the best results from it. I recommend using Advantage or Revolution instead. Hello! It is safe to use the Advantage again now, so I recommend reapplication of that product. Keep in mind as well that the outdoors will have a continual source of fleas, and there's not much you can do about that for Chiky. You can washing her bedding in hot and soapy water to kill any fleas in there. If she's allowed inside, you will need to disinfect the home as well. Vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If the Hartz flea and tick was applied and then was given a bath a couple days later, the product is already absorbed in her system. A bath two days later will not wash off the product. I would not recommend using the advantage multi in addition as this will be an overload on her system and may Rose sick. Better safe than sorry on this one. I hope this helps!
