How to tell if my Persian cat is pregnant after mating a month ago?

Female cats will only mate when they are in heat, and they show signs of being in heat by being very vocal, affectionate, lifting her tail up, and wanting to go outside all the time to find males to mate with which to mate. If Mochi isn't show any signs of being in heat, then she will not have mated. Should she be in heat, there really isn't a way to tell if she mated or not. You could see some dried saliva on the back of her neck, as males may grab there with their mouth when mating. Otherwise, I would wait four weeks, then take her into the vet for an exam. The vet will be able to diagnose if she is pregnant or not, which would be very likely if she mated. I hope this helps!

Mia does look like her abdomen is mildly distended, which may be due to pregnancy, or may be secondary to another underlying issue (fluid accumulation, etc.). If she is pregnant and her expected due date is in 2-3 weeks, an xray can verify pregnancy, as well as count how many kittens (if any) she is going to have (and sometimes kittens can be felt on physical examination). I would recommend having her evaluated by your regular veterinarian to determine if she is pregnant or if she has another underlying issue that needs to be addressed. Good luck!

From these pictures it does appear that Coco’s abdomen is slightly distended. However, there can be many other reasons for abdominal distention such as fluid in the belly, heart disease, false pregnancy and/or intestinal parasites. My best recommendation would be to take Coco in the vet to be examined. This would give you a better idea of her overall health and they may be able to determine if she is pregnant. That could be diagnosed at around 25th day of pregnancy by quite expert ultrasonographers, or possibly later (36-40th day) with abdominal radiographs or manual palpation. Unfortunately only the ultrasound can give you information about the vitality of the kittens. There are hormonal tests available as well, but not everywhere and cost could be higher. You may see swollen, pink nipples, some "morning sickness", increased appetite, weight gain and a distended abdomen. Without a physical exam though, a determination of pregnancy cannot be made definitively. Ideally, she should be examined by a veterinarian. An abdominal x-ray or ultrasound can confirm pregnancy.

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Her belly and mammary glands do not look distended enough to be pregnant unless she is early pregnant (2-4 weeks). I think she might be in heat. I would try to keep her inside as it doesn't take cats very long to get the deed done! Cats are pregnant for 60 days, so if her belly and mammary glands continue to get larger then she is likely pregnant and you'd have kittens 4-6 weeks from now. Good luck!

If she mated 80 days ago then it is unlikely she is pregnant from that mating as the average gestation is about 65 days. You could have a vet examine her and do an ultrasound or x-rays to see if she is pregnant.
