My Persian cat has fleas and eggs. What's the best way to treat them?

That's not good at all. Fleas can make Catty very sick, and cause anemia. She has to be treated for it. First, I would give her Capstar. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas within 30. minutes. Then follow up with a spot on treatment, such as Advantage or Revolution. This is a treatment that has to be used once a month. You will also have to disinfect the environment. Wash her bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home.

I would recommend either Revolution or Comfortis for flea prevention. If he has a really heavy flea load then you can first give a Capstar, which will get rid of the fleas within 1 hr and then follow up with a flea preventative for long term control. In order to treat Bandit’s fleas, I recommend using a good quality topical product, such as Advantage (use monthly) or Bravecto (prescription based and used every 3 months). Flea shampoos are rarely effective and can cause irritation to the skin, so I tend to steer clear of them. Be sure to vacuum daily, dispose of the vacuum bag frequently, and wash Bandit’s bedding in hot water. The only flea collar that appears to work well is the Seresto collar. And even then, I can have a slower rate of kill for the fleas. The top products on the market our oral products such as some Perica and next guard. For most pets, these are good options that I recommend to call your veterinarian first and doublecheck. Hi I would suggest you buy a box of 6 pipettes of Revolution. Make sure you apply one pipette on each cat to the skin to the back of their neck, so it’s important you part hair when applying it. Oh dear, poor Izi! As a starting point, I recommend putting a high quality topical flea preventative on Izi, such as Advantage (also known as Advocate in the UK), Revolution, or Bravecto. Be sure to treat her regularly every 1-3 months, as labeled by the product chosen. Also treat every dog or cat in the household with an appropriate preventative on an ongoing basis. It is also a good idea to vacuum your house daily for the next few weeks, taking care to discard the vacuum bag or clean the vacuum canister regularly to prevent fleas from crawling out. Fleas can be infected with tapeworms, so if Izi would ingest one of these infected fleas, she could acquire a tapeworm infection as well.
