How much Pedialyte is safe for my senior cat with kidney issues?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

My 16 yr. old cat has kidney challenges. I'd like to hydrate her a little - I've read that pedialyte works a little. Can you tell me how much pedialyte I can give her. She weighs about 7 lbs. Many thks.

If she has kidney disease and needs extra fluids than the best way is to give her subcutaenous fluids. Your vet should be able to teach you how to give SQ fluids at home. If she is drinking than you could add some pedialyte to her water in equal parts.
