Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed
I need some advice please, my female cat has started going to the toilet indoors all of a sudden she is an outdoor cat and usually goes to the toilet outdoors but seems to be too scared to do so. She is eating normally we have recently removed a book shelf from our dining room which was her territory and where the book shelf was this is where she has started going to the toilet. I wonder whether she has anxiety about the book shelf not being there anymore. Any advice?

This could be a behavioral issue such as her marking her territory to the cats and other animals outside. However it would be safest to at least have your veterinarian examine her and check to make sure there are no medical issues such as a urinary tract infection or crystals in her urine. You could check the Ohio state college of veterinary medicine's website called indoor pet initiative for more tips on dealing with cats that urinate outside the litter box.
