How to care for multiple outdoor cats & kittens: health, spay, shots?

Congratulations! What a beautiful kitten! Most vets start a vaccine series between 6-8 weeks of age, and will also deworm or check stool samples at the first visit. Following that, they typically need a visit/booster every 3-5 weeks until they are a few months old. The exact vaccines schedule will be individualized by your vet. They may also recommend parasite prevention or routine dewormers. Other things you can do at home include feeding a high quality kitten food, checking their urine and stool output and getting them used to being handled. Becoming well socialized is very important! Make sure they have plenty of vertical space like a cat tree, handle him gently and frequently - get him used to having his nail trims, etc. Don't let him bite you:) It looks like you are off to a great start!

I recommend at 5 months for the first visit to consist of: fecal test, deworming even if the fecal test is negative, feline leukemia and FIV testing, the FVRCP vaccine every 3 weeks for a total of 2 and the Rabies vaccine. I also recommend spaying and neutering after 6 months of age. I recommend feeding ahigh quality kitten food like Purina Proplan, Hill's Science Diet or Royal Canin until 1 year of age. To watch the weight after 6 months I recommend meal feeding. I wish you the very best!

How lovely of you to look after these kitties, and to take them with you! I would take them both into a vet for a health check to make sure everything is ok with them. The vet can also confirm if the other cat is pregnant. Once they give birth, you can have them spayed after the kittens are weaned, and you can get their vaccines. BoGi should be getting a high quality kitten food as long as she is nursing. She can be spayed a few weeks after the kittens are weaned - I typically recommend when the kittens are about 8 weeks. The kittens should be weighed daily to make sure they gain weight every day. They can be dewormer ever two weeks starting at two weeks of age. Vaccinations are typically started at 6-8 weeks. Kitten food should be offered around 4 weeks or so. The kittens should be spayed or neutered before 5 months of age. Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach! I would recommend deworming the kittens and starting their first vaccinations (FeLV and FVRCP vaccinations). These vaccinations will need to be repeated two more times after the initial vaccine. These vaccinations will help develop immunity against Feline Leukemia, Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus and Panleukopenia. That is so lovely of you to want to help the mother and her kittens! I would definitely catch them as soon as possible, and bring them to a vet. The vet can do a health check on all of them, and can do blood tests and a urinalysis on the mother to check on her organ fuctions and to see if she has any diseases. Then the vet can schedule a spay for when the kittens are weaned, and vaccines as well. The vet can give you an idea of how old the kittens are, and can give you tips on how to help them wean. The first step is to catch them, however, and I would do that as soon as you can. So great of you to help them!

Keep them separated until her milk dries up. I strongly recommend you have her spayed as soon as possible before she becomes pregnant again. As long as they are at least 1.5 pounds in weight they should have a whole tube. If you are unsure of their weight you will need to weigh them. You can get a human baby scale or kitchen scale to weigh them. All animals in the household should receive flea treatment EVERY month and you should also treat the environment for fleas; indoors and outdoors or you will continue to have problems.
