My old cat is thin, eating, and still pulling out fur. What's wrong?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 10 years and 8 months old | 10 lbs

A few months back, Micky had been hiding, not eating, and kind of out of it, and started tearing out clumps of fur. We figured it had been worms again so gave him a medication for that. And it helped! For a little bit... His appetite is back, he's not hiding and being incredibly affectionate, even seem more focused and mentally healthy!. But now, he's incredibly thin, to the point I can feel every bone in his body, he's been eating, but still pulling out fur too. He's in a room all day, depress?

Micky sounds sick, and I would take him back into the vet for a geriatric blood panel and urinalysis. He may have a serious illness like diabetes, kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, or cancer causing his symptoms.
