Why is my nursing cat in pain, not eating, with a red tongue?

If you can't reach a vet, your options are somewhat limited in terms of treatment or diagnostics for the described situation. The first thing I would do in order to see how uncomfortable she truly is, is offer her something to eat that she normally would not be able to resist. If she won't take that, it is likely that she is truly in a great deal of discomfort. The sneezing and rashes around the lips makes me think she may have rubbed her face in something that caused some irritation. I would be interested in know if she currently has a fever as well. If you have a thermometer available, see if you can obtain a rectal (of armpit but this is not nearly as accurate) reading. Any reading above 102.5 is considered elevated. Loss of appetite, failure to eat or drink, and sneezing altogether could means a host of different possibilities. Without true diagnostics, there is really no way of telling what the problem is. I don't know what the prescriptions laws are in Pakistan, but if you are able, I would try to obtain an antibiotic, an anti-nausea medication, and an anti-histamine to try and control the symptoms. She needs to be well enough to take care of her kittens too. I hope this is helpful.

It sounds like your vet diagnosed her with an upper respiratory infection. Depending on the virus that causes this, the signs can appear in the eyes, nose or mouth. There is a virus called calicivirus that can cause sneezing and ulcers in the mouth. These can be quite painful and make the cat not want to eat. I typically recommend feeding a canned diet so she can lap it up rather than chew it. A/D is a good diet for this. It is made by Hill's and is available by prescription through a veterinarian. I also will sometimes prescribe pain medication to keep them comfortable and eating while they have ulcers in their mouths. I would recommend calling your veterinarian in the morning to discuss these things. We don't want her to go too long without eating.

It is possible phantom has rabies but very unlikely. Rabies is not a common disease in out domestic animals. I would be concerned about a possible viral or infectious cause of oral pain. Calicivirus can cause oral ulcers and tongue ulcers in young cats. Typically the treatment for viral infections is supportive care and pain management. I would recommend taking Phantom to a vet for a closer exam. Also you can start a lysine supplement to help decrease viral replication. In the mean time you can try and feed wet food. This might be less painful to eat than hard. IT is also possible the hyper salivation and pain is due to an obstruction or nausea. Your vet will help determine the cause and provide proper treatment.

Cats can develop something called gingivostomatitis as well as feline oral resoptive lesions. These are both very painful and require antibiotics and sometimes steroids as well as dental procedures to correct. Also if there's any possibility she chewed something like electric cord or plant that can calls the signs as well. I recommend Dusk be checked out by a veterinarian as soon as possible. This is to prevent her from becoming dehydrated and malnourished from not eating. Do not give her any human medications as they are very toxic to cats and I'll make the situation worse.

The ulcers are likely due to feline stomatitis, or a calicivirus infection. Without evaluating him, I can't make this diagnosis and would recommend consulting with your vet for more information about his specific condition. Stomatitis is a frustrating condition and the best remedy we have is often a full mouth teeth extraction. Antibiotics and steroids can be effective in some cases, but lysine has not shown to be effective. Either way, it sounds like poor Mr. Kitty is in need of pain control and further treatment, so it's best to take him for a recheck exam by your vet, so they can prescribe the necessary medication. This sounds very much like she may have a tooth problem or a mouth ulcer or an injury. Since she apparently is in pain when you try to touch her around the mouth, I suggest you take her to your veterinarian for a dental exam. She may need a tooth removed or be treated for an ulcer or have tartar removed.

If Coco is nauseated from something, it is difficult to say for sure the cause just based on the symptoms. Coco may have a systemic disease or infection going on that needs antibiotic therapy. I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Coco so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made.
