Is my 11-week-old calico kitten male? I thought calicos were female!

Male calicos are usually sterile because the gene for the black is carried on one x chromosome and the orange on another x chromosome, so, in order for a male calico to exist, it is because he has xxy chromosomes, not the typical xy combination. Only one in 100,000 male calico cats are estimated to NOT be sterile. Yes, two orange tabby cats can breed and produce offspring.

From the pictures, it looks as though the names Bonnie and Clyde are appropriate! :-) The first kitten (photo on the left) appears to be male and the second kitten (photo on the right) appears to be female. I still recommend asking your vet to confirm their genders at their first appointment since photos can occasionally be misleading.

It's hard to say for certain from the pictures, but I think this kitty may be a girl. At a couple months old, you should be able to feel testicles within the scrotum which is under the slit for a penis/vulva. If you can't gently feel testicles, then it's most likely a female, or possibly a male whose testicles did not descend.

Calico cats are always female and can have grey tabby kittens depending on her and the father's genetics. The fact she is under the deck with the kitten makes me think she is likely the mother. But you can not tell based on her color pattern if she is or not. Good luck!
