When and how should I begin litter training my 5-week-old kittens?

I recommend first to have the kittens examined by the vet to make sure they are healthy and free of infections or parasites. If they are healthy, I recommend to start littler box training. They can come out for breaks while being supervised but otherwise, they should be in their room. This includes sleeping there since you are having trouble with them urinating on your bed. Also make sure you are using a large, uncovered litter box with a clay-based clumping litter that is easy for the kittens to climb into. The box should be scoped at least twice a day for right now. Fortunately, most kittens figure out how to use a litter box consistently pretty early in life with minimal training. Since kittens typically prefer to eliminate on loose substrates, including litter, they are often quite happy to head straight to the litter box. When first introducing the litter box, begin by confining your kitten to a small room or to a large crate with a litter box when you are not interacting with them. After meals or playtime, place your kitten in the litter box, as they are likely to go at these times. Be sure that your litter box is fairly shallow, as tiny kittens may struggle to physically get into a litter box with high sides. Small treats can also be given as a reward each time a kitten successfully uses the litter box.

Beux may still need some assistance in the litter department so you may need to bring him there throughout the day to encourage him to use it. Using a scoop to bury any stools and to "dig" in the litter like a mother would show him how may also help teach him how to bury it. Very young kittens may also still need stimulation to go, and using a warm wet washcloth on his bottom while in the litter box may stimulate him to get going.

Hi there. Most cats prefer an unscented clumping litter with a fine, sand-like texture - so I would recommend offering something like this. The litter box should be large with low sides, so it's easy for her to get in. If you try this and she still has no interest in using the litter box, then you may need to observe what type of surface she prefers to potty on and use something similar to this in her litter box.

Hello, Excellent job on changing the litter to a form they are not interested in eating! Pellet litter should be fine for kittens to move, but if it is a tiny bit heavy for now, they will be more than strong enough to handle it within a couple of weeks of growth. It's more important at this stage for them to be attracted to using the litter properly (peeing and pooing, not eating it), so as long as that is going well, there is no need to change. Kittens tend to dig their head into lots of gross places at their young age- you can use a damp water washcloth to gently wipe their faces down when necessary. :) I hope this is helpful!
