Kitten still has worms & swollen butt after treatment. What to do?

I would add in a probiotic like Purina Fortiflora and I would get a prescription intestinal diet form you Vet like Hill's i/d. It isn't wrong to deworm her again despite the negative stool sample since she was so infested with worms. Hopefully those 3 things in combination will nip the diarrhea. Good luck!

I wouldn't be too concerned. I would recommend repeating treatment in two weeks just to make sure they do not have tapeworms again. Even though you do not seen worms, it is possible that Cupcake still has gastrointestinal parasites causing her diarrhea with blood. GI parasites are one of the most common causes of diarrhea in kittens, and are easily treatable with deworming medication from your veterinarian. Other possibilities include viral infections and/or dietary indiscretion (eating something she shouldn't have). Regardless, I recommend having her evaluated by your veterinarian so he/she can perform an analysis of her feces to determine if and what parasites are present, and prescribe the appropriate treatment. I do NOT recommend purchasing products from either a pet store or food store, as these medications are not regulated and/or proven to be safe and effective for use especially in young kittens. I would recommend rechecking a stool sample. Parasites are not consistent shedders so he may also had a different intestinal parasites that the dewormer didn't cover and may need something else. I would recommend another visit to your veterinarian to have them perform a stool sample. I would also recommend a prescription bland diet. Jasper probably needs to be dewormed, as this is a very common problem in young cats & kittens. Once dewormed, the swelling & bowel movements should normalize. Take care.

You are not giving the correct medication. If you are seeing tapeworms, small flat worms or rice like segments near the anus, then you need a prescription dewormer from your veterinarian. I recommend taking a fecal sample in and have them look for parasite eggs under the microscope. Then they can make sure they give you the proper medication. Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! No picture was attached so I am not able to evaluate the wound on the abdomen. Sounds like there is a lot going on with Boo! I think the best bet here is to have Boo seen and evaluated with a veterinarian. Boo may need an antibiotic prescribed as well as a dewormer. Boo may be too young for any flea preventatives but a warm bath with dawn dish soap will help kill the fleas that are presently on her. I hope this helps and I hope she can see a vet soon!
