My kitten is throwing up after deworming medicine. What should I do?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 6 lbs

We found kitten on farm. We kept her and she is very affectionate. She is about 8 months. We took her to the vet and found that she has hookworms and lung flukes. She is on second day taking anti-parasitic medication. She is throwing up though. Is there anyway to help her not throw up? She's scared of me now a little bit and I feel really bad

Thank toy for submitting your question regarding Dusty. I would contact her veterinarian in the morning to let them know of the vomiting. It is likely due to the deworming medication. It can sometimes cause vomiting as the parasites are being killed. They may send her home with an anti-nausea medication if this is the case. This medication can typically given as an injection by the veterinarian and then tablets to continue at home. I hope this information helps!
