Should I take my kitten to the vet for teeth grinding while sleeping?

Teeth grinding, also known as bruxism, is a classic sign of discomfort or mild pain. I recommend toys for her to chew on which will help with this. This process usually ends at about 7 months of age. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Snaggles! Teeth grinding, hissing and crying while eating indicates oral pain. Before you start any medications Snaggles needs to have an exam by a Vet. He could have severe stomatitis or another tooth that needs to be extracted. Antibiotics and pain medications are temporary band-aids for both conditions. Without examining Snaggles, it is against the law for us to prescribe medications. We need a valid Veterinary Client Patient Relationship that requires us to be able to physically touch your pet. Since Snaggles was just seen by your Vet in June I would try calling them and asking if those medications are appropriate for him. My recommendations, for Snaggles sake, is to take him in for an exam so you know what you are dealing with. I hope this helps and I wish Snaggles a speedy recovery!

Grinding her teeth can be a sign of pain. I recommend to have Angel examined by her veterinarian today if possible. She may have a bad tooth or other type of infection causing discomfort. Additionally, older cats can be more susceptible to dehydration then younger cats. It’s best to be more aggressive with them treatment wise. You need to take her to the vet ASAP, she is probably suffering from a gum/teeth disease which is very common in cats, treatment varies according to the severity of the condition but this must be dealt with urgently.

A pale/white appearance to the tissue in the mouth makes me concerned Smudge may be anemic, meaning her red blood cells may be dangerously low. If this were the case, it can be due to a bleeding disorder, autoimmune disease, cancer in the bone marrow, or secondary to another disease process in the body. With so many possible causes, more information would be needed to have an idea of what’s wrong. The important first step would be to confirm if Smudge’s red blood cells are low with an exam and a blood test at your vet (CBC or complete blood count). Based on the results, your Vet can discuss what the best course of action would be for Smudge. I hope this helps!

I'm sorry to hear Platinum is having these issues! Baby teeth are usually lost between 4-6 months of age so she may have just lost her baby teeth. However, some of the other things you're describing are concerning to me, especially in a kitten. These things could be a sign of many things including infection, gastrointestinal disease, or pain. I'd recommend taking Platinum to see a veterinarian as soon as possible so she can receive the necessary treatment.
