My kitten has red spots like scabs under its nose. What's wrong?

Skin lesions like you are describing can have a variety of causes, including skin parasites (fleas or mites), an infection (bacterial or fungal), allergies, or another underlying medical issue. I would recommend he be evaluated by his regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for his skin lesions, so he could start any treatment (antibiotics, anti-itch medications, parasiticide) that he may need. In the meantime, I would clean the area will diluted betadine if possible and then keep it dry, and trim his nails back as much as possible to keep him from scratching at it. Good luck!

I would recommend taking Snow White to a veterinarian. This can be anything from a bacterial infection to a fungal infection (like ringworm). They can take a woods lamp (it is like a black light) to see if it glows green. If it does it is ringworm, if it does not it still could be. Only 50% of all ringworm shows up positive with this test. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is possibly an infection. However, this is a somewhat common location for a tumor in cats as well. I still think that a focal infection or traumatic lesion is more likely. You can use a topical medication like Douxo 3% PS pads which you may find online. You can apply this to the affected area twice daily for 2 weeks. If this does not resolve or appears to be progressing, have Lovey evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Poor Squeekers. This could be due to allergy or insect hypersensitivity. I would be sure that he is on adequate parasite prevention such as Revolution. In some cats lesions such as these can be autoimmune. I would recommend trying to keep indoors if possible to see if they start resolving. It is difficult to tell from the pictures exactly what could be going on. However, crusty skin lesions can be due to parasite (skin or mite) infections, bacterial infections or even fungal infections. Your veterinarian can perform a skin scraping to determine the cause of the crustiness and prescribe appropriate treatment.

This is probably caused by an allergic reaction. first of all make sure you flea Winter regularly every month with a high quality flea product (ex. Advantage Multi) as fleas are by far the most common reason for these reactions. If the fleas are not the problem, it could be an allergic reaction to food or an environmental factor. this is more complicated to treat and will sometimes require medications such as Steroids, anti histamines or cyclosporin in order to stop the allergy. In some cases a course of antibiotics is also needed in order to treat the secondary infection that has appeared.

It looks like he may have a dermatitis on his nose which could be secondary to a bacterial infection, trauma, allergic reaction, or possibly a fungal infection. He should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. Your vet can do a culture, if needed to help diagnose.
