My kitten has hypothermia, can't walk, won't eat. What should I do?

I am very sorry to hear about Cujo. Unfortunately, if all the other kittens have died, he is facing very bad odds. I would be very concerned about infectious causes of death, including fleas, intestinal parasites, bacterial infection, or viral infection including panleukopenia. If he is not interested in eating on his own, I would recommend bottle feeding or syringe feeding kitten formula as he can easily get dehydrated and hypoglycemic. Try to get him warm - you can use a heating pad set on low or put a towel in the dryer for a few minutes to warm it up. You can also hold him inside your shirt and rub gently. Hypothermic kittens are much harder to treat than warm kittens. You can also try rubbing honey or Caro syrup on his gums as a way to get some sugar into him.

The symptom you are describing are very concerning and Titan might be in great danger. He needs immediate vet attention. While you are traveling to the vet keep him warm (wrap him in a blanket). I am sorry to hear that Music isn't doing well. I am very concerned that if he can't move, he is very very sick. Hypothermic kittens are very sick, and even with intensive veterinary care, can be very difficult to save. I recommend that he be seen by a vet immediately to find what could have caused him to become sick. Wrap him up in a warm towel or in a heating pad on the "low" setting; you can also hold him inside your shirt to try to get him warm while you get to the vet.

I am so sorry your little kitten isn't doing well! His chances of survival honestly depend on the cause of his symptoms and his response to treatment. It's good that he was eating well but it is concerning that he then went downhill again. You have done exactly the right thing by bringing him back to the vet, and he will be in the best care possible with vet giving him the greatest chance of survival. I am so sorry to hear about Kleo. These symptoms are very concerning and could potentially lead to if she goes untreated. It is impossible for me to say what is going on with her without an examination but with her symptoms we would worry about things like an issue with circulation due to a possible heart condition, hypoglycemia (very low blood sugar), neurological issues, toxicity. I would recommend rubbing some karo syrup or honey on her gums in case her blood sugar is low, wrapping her in a warm blanket or towel (one from the dryer if available to be even a little warmer if she is cold) and getting her to the vet right away. They will need to do an examination of her to try to determine the cause of the symptoms which will help determine if treatment is possible. I wish you the best of luck.

Young kittens such as Bubba can get bad colds and other serious infections. Upper respiratory infections are common and they usually have eye and nose discharge and can cause a fever so they don't want to eat. Kittens are also are more fragile than older animals so I recommend you get her to a veterinarian for treatment soon. In the mean time keep her warm and see if she will lick some water or tuna juice from your finger to help keep her from getting dehydrated. Usually with rest they will improve in a week or two. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I’m so sorry to hear about buttercup. You have her listed at 1lb so I am assuming she is a kitten. I can’t diagnose her over the internet but i can tell you that her situation sounds very grave. A cat -especially a kitten- who will not eat, seems blind, and is not moving, needs intensive testing and care- and may still not make it. Hypoglycemia and hypothermia (they often go together) are first on my list. Congenital brain or heart problems and infectious diseases are also possible. If she can still swallow you can continue the water. You can place a little white Karo syrup or honey on her gums for some blood sugar stabilization. If she perks up with that, keep her warm and continue small amounts of water and Karo syrup every half hour or so. But if she doesn’t perk up within a few minutes of warming and karo, she may have bigger problems. And in that case, those won’t be enough to keep her hydrated or from losing weight. She would need a vet for anything beyond that, and you may need to make a tough decision to humanely euthanize her. :( I’m so sorry and I wish the best for you and Buttercup.
