My kitten has fleas. Can Petco Vet remove them and prevent more?

It was probably a flea. Even if he is indoor only fleas can still come into the house. There are only a couple flea collars that actually work. If you want to use a collar I would recommend the Seresto collar - the over the counter ones like the ones from Hartz do not work. They can provide you with a list of services they can provide. Sometimes vaccine clinics only do vaccines and do not provide medicine or see sick animals. As far as flea/tick medications, there are many options that come in many different formulations ranging from topical, collars, orals, and injectable drugs. If a pet is heavily infested with fleas, typically we use a drug to kill all the live fleas first and follow that up with the preventative, whichever one you and your vet agree upon. In most instances, these drugs work quite different dependent upon your geographic location so this would once again be a discussion with your vet. The cost of the medication will largely depend upon which one you choose and where you end up obtaining it. Also, dependent upon the extent of the flea infestation, additional treatments may be suggested to get Khloe back on the right track. Hope this makes sense.

An indoor cat with no exposure should be dewormed at least every 6 months. He may not go outdoors, but you do and it is possible small mammals, namely rodents, may find their way inside the house. A topical flea and tick preventative should be used monthly all year round. Alternatively, you could use it during the Spring, Summer and Fall months.
