Hi and thanks for posting! The diet you have your kitten on sounds pretty good for a kitten. As he approaches a year of age, I would feed adult formula and no more than 1/2 cup a day if he in an indoor only cat. The earlier you start brushing his teeth, the better so he gets use to you doing it. I would make it a goal to brush his teeth daily if you can. I hope this helps!

Greenies can help, and water additives can be effective, but ultimately the best thing for Artemis is a dental cleaning, scaling, and polishing with the vet. I also recommend a dental food like Hill's t/d. I hope this helps!

Great questions! You can start brushing Bambi's teeth now. I would get a cat toothbrush and cat toothpaste (do NOT use human toothpaste) from the pet store. I recommend the CET brand of dental products. You can deworm her at home, you can pick up a deworming treatment while at the pet store. When she is six weeks of age, she will be old enough for her first vaccines, so make her an appointment with a vet to get those done. I hope this helps!

It is a common misconception that dry food is better for teeth than wet foods. Once a cat takes a bite of the kibble and crunches it, there is no advantage in mechanically or abrasively cleaning the teeth. Exceptions come into play with certain prescription diets, such as Hill’s t/d, which have been proven to mechanically clean the teeth. At the end of the day, daily tooth brushing is the best preventative measure for keeping a cat’s teeth healthy.
