My kitten has cold symptoms, is weak, and won't eat. What's wrong?

Pet's info: Cat | Bengal | Male | 6 months and 13 days old | 4 lbs

I have a 8 month old cat. He have cold flu,Snezzing,All time slepping,and getting Very weak.He doesn’t eat anything.Please give any remedy or medicine to recover his condition

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. Based on your description and the pictures, I suspect that he has an upper respiratory infection. Many times upper respiratory infections can be contributed to the herpes virus in cats. I would recommend taking Catty in to be seen by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. An antibiotic will likely be prescribed / administered to help with any secondary bacterial infections. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction and that Catty feels better soon. Hello, sorry to hear about Henri. Cats, especially kittens may suffer from recurrent upper respiratory tract infections. This is generally causes by 3 main diseases (herpes virus, calici virus, or chlamydia). Most commonly in the US, herpes virus is an underlying cause for recurrent URI. This may be different in the UK. Most common management is to administer antibiotics for secondary infections and anti-viral gel such as lysine to decrease replication of the virus. Most often, cats improve within 5-7 days, if Henry does not, then he should be evaluated by a veterinarian tomorrow morning, Hope this helps and best of luck.

It sounds like your cats may have a respiratory infection. Most of them will clear up on their own, but if your cats begin to not want to eat/drink and become very uncomfortable, it may be time to have them assessed by your veterinarian. Antibiotics will sometimes help but these clinical signs are often caused by viruses. Your cats may also have allergies as it is the change of seasons. An air purifier may help if that is the case.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is likely due to an upper respiratory infection though something else like bilateral corneal ulcers or even dry eye are possible. This is usually treated with antibiotic eye drops and oral antibiotics and cats usually respond well to therapy. I recommend that you have Deimos evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. If they agree that based on an examination, that seems to be the issue, they will likely prescribe medications to make him feel better. In the meantime, you may try to decrease his activity and rest him up which may help. Good luck and best wishes!
