As long as it is black or clear and not green or yellow, this is considered to be a normal weepy eye. If PK is not squinting, and you are not seeing red eyes or excessive discharge what you are seeing is likely normal. However, in some cases eye discharge can be a sign of an upper respiratory infection. It's hard to say for sure if the debris you are seeing in PK is normal without doing an examination on him. This can be a pretty normal thing. Cats have a normal staining in their saliva and tears that can look brownish when dried. Not a big deal. I would not be overly concerned unless it becomes excessive or he seems to have other problems with the eyes. I suggest you use these eye wipes when cleaning the eyes although there is nothing wrong with using the tissue and warm water as you have been. Hello. This could be the beginning of a little upper respiratory infection. Since most of these are viruses, usually with time they go away ( usually 10-14 days ). As long as Spice continues to eat & act normal, just keep the eye clean of the mucous with a little warm water. If this progresses to a little sneezing, again, as long as he is acting/eating fine, there is no need for treatment.
