Found a kitten with things on its back. Are they worms or fleas?

She is probably a mixed breed cat. a fat belly usually means worms, you will need to buy a cat dewormer from the pet shop to treat this. she looks very young , probably under 8 weeks, meaning you can only use frontline spray for fleas due to her age, you can buy this product from a vet clinic only.

It's probably tapeworms actually, very common in cats and look like little larvae, those worms arrive with fleas, which are their intermediate host, so you will have to de-flea and de-worm your cat. Make sure the dewormer you use also works against tapeworms (drontal, mylbemax, Profender).

Your kitty has a tapeworm infection. This is not contagious to people. Cats get tapeworm by ingesting an infected flea while grooming. Tapeworm use fleas as interim hosts and this is how they can infect cats and dogs. So you should do two things now: 1) get a cat wormer that contains praziquantel which kills tapeworm. Your vet should be able to sell you the wormer, but you can also buy it in a pet shop or over the internet. 2) Make sure you do flea prevention , either via spot on or a seresto collar or a flea spray. This should take care of the problem.

Cute kitty. This is likely a flea and actually you can bathe kitty as early as 2 weeks of age, since that is when most kitties can regulate their own body temperature. Fleas are very small and move very fast. They can cause itching and also they can carry tapeworms which can come out in the stool and look like little grains of rice. And actually Pinky is old enough for topical Revolution flea prevention, which is ok to give to kitty’s who are at least 6 weeks of age. Ask your vet for a prescription, since this is not available over the counter. But you can go ahead and bathe Pinky now, just blow dry him a bit to speed up the drying process if it is cold temperature where you are. Hello, if you can see them then they are likely fleas! You can give the cat a bath to rid the fleas. If you have other pets at home ensure they are all protected against fleas as well. Hope this helps and best of luck

It is a pity that you did not photograph the worm. It would have helped with identification of the worm. Usually kittens have roundworms, but these are not white. It is unlikely that a kitten has tape worm at this age. I would deworm the kitty with a kitten wormer for round worms. Should your kitten have another one of these small white worms (proglottids of tape worm, looks like a bit of a rice corn or sesame seed). If you do discuss worming against tape worm with your veterinarian, since she is so young.

The fleas and constant itching can be contributing to the vomiting. I would use a flea comb dipped in soapy water to comb the fleas off her several times a day. This will catch the fleas on her and kill them in the soapy water. You will also remove the lose fur which may be causing her to have hairballs which she is trying to vomit up. Please do get a flea prevention product as soon as you can. When she's treated for the intestinal parasites and fleas she should feel better.
