My kitten attacks and chews my hair. Is this normal or dangerous?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. This can be normal for long-haired kittens. As she grows and gets her adult coat, it will start looking less silly. Playful biting is also normal for kittens. I recommend getting her a toy or two that is appropriate for her to bite and claw at. This can be very bad as strings and other foreign objects can cause blockages, lacerations or perforations within the intestines which can be life threatening. This may be a difficult situation to correct. Some cats may respond to environmental enrichment and finding energy outlets. Lastly, you may need to safety confine Maisy so she cannot eat things she should. Yes, this is very normal - kittens this age will try to play with just about anything within reach, and hair is very tempting for them when they are cuddling with you :) They will grow out of this as they get older, so as long as it isn't hurting you or bothering you, I wouldn't worry about it at all.

In all likelihood, Fern's fondness for paper is likely a normal play and exploration behavior. Young kittens are still learning about their surroundings and sometimes get into trouble in the process. Obviously, try to avoid letting her eat paper when possible, but a bit here and there is unlikely to cause any significant problems. If she is eating a commercially available balanced kitten food, a nutritional deficiency is highly unlikely as a possible cause. Try to confine her when you leave the house to avoid unsupervised access to paper products, but I would expect her to grow out of this behavior. If you haven't already done so, take a stool sample to her vet to assure that intestinal parasites are not present, as this can occasionally cause animals to eat abnormal things. It sounds like Bandit may be exhibiting normal playful kitten behavior. I would try to redirect him with fun toys (if you haven't found one he likes yet there are a wide variety at hte pet store, from laser pointers to stuffed toys with feathers and others with catnip inside) he might enjoy to keep him away from your face. If you have long hair then keeping your hair up/out of your face may be helpful for a time as well. If he persists in trying to get your face despite you offering him other things to play with then get up and move away from him and do not interact with him, as he wants interaction from you and even if you are telling him no or pushing him away, he will consider this a reaction and reinforcement for the behavior.

This is likely behavioral. I would recommend providing her with plenty of toys that will keep her occupied. You can also consider using a bitter spray to apply to the things she chews on most to try and deter her from continuing this behavior. I hope this helps!
