Why is my kitten acting weird and lethargic after being in the garage?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 3 months and 23 days old | 2.8 lbs

My kitten was left in the garage for up to two hours and ever since I let him out, he’s been acting strange. He’s much more affectionate than usual, he’s purring a lot, he doesn’t have a lot of energy, and the way he meows has changed. I think he might have been bitten by a spider.

Poor guy. Look him over well to see if there are any bite wounds or swellings. If not, then its best to monitor him to see if he continues this behavior or improves. The changes you mention are very vague for any particular problem, and also seen mild, so it is ok to monitor for now. He may have just been overheated and needs time to recover. Offer him water and food and see how he does for the next 12 hrs. As long as his breathing remains normal, he eats well and drinks well and doesn't hide, then he will likely be ok. However, if things seem to be getting worse, then it is best to have him examined by your vet for any internal problems.
I hope that Benji recovers well. Best wishes and take care.
