Is it good to introduce a 1-month-old kitten to a 6-month-old cat?

Great question! Given that they are about six months old, you can start introducing them to the outside now. It's fine to do them together at the same time, and I would start by letting them outside on their own with you monitoring for 10-15 minutes, and then slowly increasing the time they are allowed outside over the next couple of weeks. I would recommend having them indoors at night and only letting them out during the day. Nighttime is when there can be lots of fights with cats and predators will come out at night, so it will be safer for them to be indoors then.

Yes, I think this would be the cat that I would choose. A one year old is not as crazy and playful as a younger kitten and you should already be able to get a good idea of her personality. It is good to choose a laid back and non-threatening cat. No matter who you choose, your male cat will not line it at first. There is always an adjustment period for cats to accept another cat. Personally I wouldn't put Channel through the flight for the sake of one week. If they don't get on one week is not going to make any real difference, and you would likely be at square one in the Summer. They will hopefully get on, but you will need to make sure that one or both is neutered to avoid kittens!

Congrats on your new cat! Given that you just got Winnie, it would be best to let her adjust to her new home before introducing another cat. That's because moving into a new home is stressful for a cat, and introducing another cat into the home will put added stress on her. I would wait a few months, then look into getting another cat. How lovely of you to take in this stray cat and her kittens! I would keep your five week old male kitten separate from the kittens. At five weeks old, your kitten will not be vaccinated and can pass along diseases such as calicivirus and feline distemper to the kittens and their mother. Conversely, the mother could pass those along to your kitten as she likely isn't vaccinated. Fleas and intestinal worms can also be passed between them. I would take your kitten into your vet when he's six to eight weeks old to get his first vaccines, and be sure to take the mother and her kittens into the vet in the next couple of weeks to get check ups for them. You can discuss with the vet when to get the mother vaccinated and spayed so she won't have another litter of kittens, and when to start the kittens on their vaccines. Good luck, I hope this helps!

I do not think getting a certain weight or type of cat will make a difference with the interactions with your old cat. I would recommend keeping the cats separated at first. That way they can smell each other and even interact from under a door. Than you can start to slowly introduce them. I feel letting them decided how much interaction they have is the best step. I would recommend giving Dusty an area he can go the new kitten will not be allowed. Also remember to have 1 more litter box than cat and separate feeding areas. Sometimes it will take a while but most cats will get along eventually or even just avoid each other. I hope that helps

Hello. This is a tricky question to answer because you never know how things will go until you try. Some cats absolutely hate other cats, others love company, & others are OK with a newcomer as long as the food dish stays full. I would try introducing them shortly after you move. Give Kofta a few days to a week to get used to the new house first. Then, after she seems comfortable, introduce the new boy under supervision. Often, a kitten is readily accepted after a few swats & hisses. Make sure there are double the resources for the cats at first. 2 litter boxes in separate areas, 2 food & water dishes, & plenty of places to escape & hide ( save those cardboard boxes ). I am always rescuing cats & kittens, & eventually, everyone settles down. Good luck & take care.
