What's the outlook for my FIV+ cat after mast cell tumor removal?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | neutered | 5 years and 3 months old | 12 lbs

Greg had a visceral mast cell tumor removed from his prolapsed anus and colon. They may have gotten it all. The vet hasn't called me back yet, but that was what the vet tech told me. He's FIV +. What are his possible chances and treatment options. He's doing rather well, considering.

I'm so sorry other that! It sounds like he's been through a lot. a lot depends on what the biopsy results show, unfortunately its very hard to speculate without that information, other than to say that his prognosis is more guarded since he is FIV +.
Sorry I don't have more to offer you right now; please feel free to post again with the results once you have them, or request a consultation with an expert once you have results and we will do our best to help you more. I'm so glad to hear that he is feeling well.
