My FIV cat is suffering. Where can I find affordable euthanasia?

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I am sorry that Mystic is so sick. Unfortunately there are no pain-free ways that you can perform euthanasia at home. I recommend calling your clinic, or the emergency clinic in your area. If you explain that Mystic is very sick and needs to be put down, but you don't have money for this, most clinics will euthanize at no cost so that the animals are not suffering. Try a few if the first clinic says no. You can also try a humane society. If you say that you know Mystic needs to be put down, and don't want a consult but he is suffering, they should be able to help you and Mystic.

That is a very tough question to answer without actually seeing her. However, I would wonder if she is healthy enough for anesthesia? If so considering pulling all of her infected teeth may make her a lot more comfortable. If she is painful, and nothing can be done to improve her quality of life, then that is usually when I start to consider euthanasia. I hope this helps guide you, but it is never an easy decision. Unfortunately, there is no treatment for FIP and if your cat is suffering then euthanasia is the best option. I'm so sorry you're having to go through this and make this decision. I wish there was more we could recommend for you but I think you're a vet has your cats best interest at heart.

I'm very sorry to hear about your kitty. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about something like this at home. If taking her to the vet is not an option, then please contact your local animal control officer and see if they can help you have her cared for, or humanely euthanized.

Aspects of these disease can be painful, such as stomatitis (severe, painful inflammation of a cat's mouth and gums) that is caused by FIV, but Bones's symptoms can be managed symptomatically by his vet. With these cases, it's very important to have him seen by his vet whenever there is an issue.

I'm sorry for Cookie's health issues. If you feel he is suffering then humane euthanasia is always an option if unable to pursue the care he needs. I'm sorry you're facing this decision. Some vet clinics for accept care credit of other medical only credit cards if that is an option for you to explore.

Hello. FIV is a very serious disease that is often fatal. We sometimes will aspirate the effusions , but for the most part it is a very uncomfortable process that is very temporary at best. The effusions come back very quickly. You did nothing wrong. You cared for your friend until the very end, but the virus was just too overwhelming for his system.
