Feeding & potty training a 4-week-old kitten with wobbly legs?

Warm the food slightly or mix n a teaspoon of baby food to stimulate his appetite. A gruel or slurry can also be made using dry kitten food and an appropriate kitten milk replacer. Do not use cow milk. Gradually decrease the liquid and mix in wetr food. Then, you can gradually decrease the dry food until he is eating canned food only. Patience and consistency are necessary in litterbox training. When he defecates or urinates outside the box, use a tissue to pick up the stool or soak up the urine and transfer it to the box. Place him in the box to sniff and inspect it. Litterbox attractants may also help to get him into the box.

Hello. At 4 weeks of age, your kitten should be well on the way to eating solid food. I would prepare a dish of wet cat food mixed with a little kitten milk replacer & offer her this 3 times a day. If she still wants the bottle, I would only be doing this twice a day to encourage her to eat the solid food. A kitten this age will probably have 2-3 bowel movements in a 24 hour period. Now that she is 3-4 weeks old she may be peeing or pooping without your knowledge. Go ahead and start teaching her the litter box but make sure it is small enough that she can get in and out. If you haven't already I would also start weaning her to cat food. At first you will still have to supplement with formula but you start by putting all for feet in canned food on a paper plate. Soon she will start eating that. And once she gets a little older, approximately 6 week, you can start adding softened kibble. The fact that she is still playful and acting normally, I do not think she is block and not urinating or pooping. Usually they will become lethargic. If you still haven't see any irons or poop in the next day or she becomes lethargic then I would see your vet for an exam. They will be able to tell if she is constipated or if the bladder is really large. I hope this helps!

At 5 weeks most kittens would be starting to eat and toilet independently but they can be slower if the mother is too keen to help. I would start separating her from kittens for 3-4hours and then offer them warmed wet food to tempt their appetite. Syringe feeding with a palatable kitten food such as royal canin starter mousse can be helpful to get them eating and swallowing themselves

Submit a stool sample to your veterinarian to diagnose intestinal parasites which are common in kittens. At 4 weeks of age, Gatsby shoukdbweigh about 1 pound. You can offer a slurry made from KMR (kitten milk replacer) and a high quality kitten canned food. Offer food about 4-5 times a day. An exam with the vet would be recommended anyway to rule out injury or neurological conditions that may be affecting his gait.

It is a pity you got them that young, They should really be with their mommy and siblings until they are 12 weeks old. You should still offer kitten milk and give them canned kitten food 4 times a day. They will still have accidents, ie might not use the litter box all the time, but eventually will use the box reliably. They will need to play a lot to get coordination and learn how to run properly, make muscles and learn how to hunt. They will try to hunt each other and when they do, please let them. Hello. I am a little concerned about your kitten because at 4 weeks of age she should be a little fireball & not require stimulation to move her bowels. She should also be eating a canned kitten food with a little replacement milk mixed in. If she has not been dewormed, this would be a priority as intestinal parasites like roundworms can make a kitten pretty weak. She may also be a little dehydrated if you have not seen her urinate.
