Am I feeding my healthy, active cat the right amount of food?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Turkish Angora | Female | spayed | 2 years old | 9.9 lbs

I'm concerned about how much I'm feeding my cat. She has two meals a day, in the morning she has 1/3 cup of dry food and a can of wet food in the evening. She's at a healthy Weight range and does a lot of exercise.

If Lulu is at a good weight I wouldn't alter her feeding at this time. If she does start to gain weight then my first recommendation would be to cut out the wet food. Also keep in mind that the feeding guidelines listed almost pet food bags are based on animals that have not been spayed or neutered. So if she starts to gain weight decreasing the amount recommended by a fourth it's also a good idea.
