Why is my dog still vomiting and having loose stools after a month?

I am sorry to hear about Coco. I would recommend a trip to the vet today. Given his symptoms, his age, and the contents of his vomit we worry very much about an gastrointestinal foreign body/obstruction. The vet can do an x-ray to see if there is any evidence of material left in the GI tract. If there is, they may give him fluids and laxative to see if it can pass or may recommend surgery based on how severe the problem appears. If no evidence of obstruction is present he may need symptomatic treatment for his upset stomach such as anti-nausea medication and antacids.

If she is still sick despite seeing her veterinarian, then I suspect she will need a further work up. She may need blood and urine testing, fecal testing as well as x-rays of her belly. I am so sorry to hear that Coco is sick. At 8 weeks old my biggest concerns would be parvovirus, intestinal parasites, and something called intussusception. This is where the intestine telescopes on itself and causes a functional obstruction. I would highly encourage you to have a follow up appointment or seek a second opinion. An 8 week old puppy will become dehydrated and decompensate quickly without supportive care. IV fluids, anti nausea medications and anti diarrhea meds would be a good plan while the diagnostics are Being run to identify the problem such as fecal Exams, parvo test, CBC, And probably repeat x-rays. If the medication is not helping Coco it is best to bring him back into your vet ASAP. It is possible there is an issue such as parvo that requires hospitalization and more care, or additional exams or testing needs to be done so the medications can be changed to help him feel better.

Coco needs to be examined by the veterinarian today. The vomiting could be due to many conditions including eating something he shouldn't have, bacterial over growth, parasites (worms and giardia) or even something more severe like organ dysfunction or intestinal blockage (which is fatal without treatment). Try to remember to take in a stool sample. The doctor will check him and recommend diagnostics based upon the examine findings and history. Many times a bland diet can help and then a slow, gradual introduction to the normal food can be done. A bland diet can consist of 25% boiled white meat chicken and 75% boiled white rice. Vomiting and diarrhea have many causes including intestinal worms, inflammation, infection, dietary problems (including dietary indiscretion or eating things pets are not supposed to eat, food sensitivities/allergies), ingestion of foreign bodies or exposure to toxins, bacterial overgrowth in the gut, problems in the stomach, intestines, or even problems outside of the intestinal tract/stomach including pancreatitis, kidney/liver problems, metabolic disease (diabetes,etc), endocrine diseases (thyroid or other hormone problems), etc. Usually, in puppies, we worry about intestinal parasites, infection (parvo/coronavirus), foreign body ingestion or dietary indiscretion. A thorough history and physical exam with resultant diagnostics such as fecal tests, blood tests, imaging studies such as x-rays/ultrasound can be done to try to determine what is going on. Puppies should be dewormed starting at 2 weeks of age and then every 2-3 weeks. This should be done multiple times and should continue for 3-4 times after weaning. When puppies nurse, they continue to get infected with intestinal parasites from their mother. Good luck

Yes, I'd be concerned about Coco, Lynsey. She sounds sick. Feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If she refuses to eat the bland diet, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away.
