My 7lb dog ate BBQ dry-rubbed chicken off the floor. Will she get sick?

What it may do though is cause gastrointestinal distress which may result in vomiting, nausea and diarrhea. If any of these are observed, have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Otherwise, she is likely going to be ok. Best of luck!

The good news is, there is nothing about a BBQ pork sandwich that is inherently toxic to dogs so you don't need to worry about that :) I would say that your dog will probably be just fine - you may see some stomach upset, such as mild vomiting and/or diarrhea for the next 24 hours or so since his system is probably not used to food like this. Occasionally, a serious illness like pancreatitis could result from eating something this kind of table food, so I would recommend taking Hershey to the vet if he has vomiting/diarrhea lasting longer than 24 hours, or if he becomes very lethargic or doesn't want to eat.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I’m not panicking about Scar and I don’t think you need to rush to the ER. But here’s a couple things to watch for. My main concerns for Scar are gastroenteritis (inflammation of the stomach and intestines) and less likely, an infection like campylobacter. Gastroenteritis is marked by a small number of vomiting episodes followed by a few days of diarrhea. Pretty much as soon as the vomiting is done, Scar should be acting like herself (happy, active). She should be eating normally by 12 hours after the vomiting stops. If/when the diarrhea comes, that should be the only sign- no lethargy, loss of appetite, etc. This all usually takes care of itself in 2-4 days. An infection from the raw meat could be a bit more serious. Vomiting or diarrhea may be more profuse, she may not want to eat for an extended period of time, may have a fever or noticable lethargy. If you’re seeing this, it’s time to head to the vet for fluids and medications to help with the nausea and diarrhea. And of course, some dogs surprise me and have no signs at all. As a first approach, considering these episodes may be self limiting, I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. Chicken strips shouldn't affect her too much. The frying fat may make her have an upset stomach or loose stool, but she may not have any symptoms. Just keep an eye on her and if she does start to act sick, vomiting, diarrhea, lack of appetite, no energy, get her in to see your vet right away.

If she ate something toxic (like grapes or onions) or something that could cause an obstruction (like a chicken bone), then she could get sick. If she just stuck her nose in and didn't come in contact with anything, then she will be ok. I would watch for any change in behavior, vomiting or diarrhea and take her to a vet if noted. No this should not be toxic to the point of life-threatening illness if a little is swallowed. At most, you may see some stomach upset (vomiting, diarrhea) in which case a bland diet of boiled plain chicken OR lean ground turkey and rice can be given to help settle the stomach. Otherwise, Sooky should be fine moving forward. Take care : )
