Is Comfortis safe for my cat if the box only shows a dog's picture?

This is an overdose, and you may see signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, and anorexia. Studies show no permanent damage to cats given an overdose, so that's good news. If you do see any of those signs I mentioned above, have B seen by a vet to be safe. I hope this helps!

Etofenprox is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide, and cats are quiet sensitive to pyrethroids. I do not recommend using pyrethroid medications to my clients due to the risk for toxicity. The dog product may have a higher concentration and be more likely to cause toxicity. Affected cats will have involuntary muscle tremors or seizure activity. You could bathe both cats with Dawn dish soap to remove any remaining topical medication and contact a veterinarian immediately if you see any signs. Comfortis is a prescription product so you will need to see your veterinarian. If you can has been examined within the last year, they may be able to approve the medication for you. You will also need to call your vet for pricing. It's typically cheaper per dose to buy it in a 6 months supply rather than a single dose. Ask if any rebates are currently running as this could help as well. To fully get rid of fleas, you will need to treat all the pets for 6 months. I hope this helps.

Hmm - it's odd that the Trifexis doesn't seem to be working as well, because it actually has the same active ingredient as Comfortis. The only difference is that it has an added ingredient for heartworm prevention, otherwise it's exactly the same drug. In my experience, both are extremely effective for fleas. I wonder if perhaps Tessa is continuing to pick up fleas from somewhere in the environment? It does take a few hours for a flea to die after biting her, so if she is continually being re-infested from the house or yard, it's very possible that you might see live fleas on her even if the medication is working properly. If you think this might be the case, I would recommend treating your house and yard with a premises spray such as Knock-Out. If you still want to get her something else for fleas, I would not recommend giving a Comfortis dose on top of the Trifexis, because this would just be giving a double dose of the same drug - I would be concerned about possible side effects from overdosing this medication. Instead, you could consider using a topical flea medication this month such as K9 Advantix, since this is a completely different medication that doesn't interact in any way with the Trifexis.

I would not recommend it as the doses are specifically formulated for weight and species. There is no way to really know how much medication you are giving. In my experience, cats tend to react much worse when the wrong dosage is given. I would be very leary of an online chart for adjusting dosages, unless it comes directly from the manufacturer, which I highly doubt that it does. You can also try checking with local shelters and veterinary clinics that may be willing to donate some products. It's worth a try to ask. I hope this helps, best of luck!

Even though Sentinel spectrum is not licensed for cats, in this case there should be no problem with this medication and dosage as the ingredients (milbemycin oxime, lufenuron and praziquantel) each are licensed for cats. There is not enough of each in the 2-8lbs dog dosage to hurt your kitty. I suggest you hide the rest of the sentinel so Maurice does not find it. Praziquantel tends to sometimes make cats vomit, so this could happen within the next 30 minutes or so. This should not be a problem.
