Will cold weather affect my senior cat's dental anesthesia procedure?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | spayed | 10 years and 11 months old | 6 lbs

My ten-year-old cat is scheduled to get her tartar removed next week, but the weather here is about to get really cold. So I'm wondering if I should postpone the treatment because I'm worried the cold may increase the risk of the anesthetic procedure, considering she's already quite old. Thanks!

When undergoing a procedure that requires an anesthesia, especially if the temperature is getting low, veterinarians has special devices to keep patients warm and cosy during the whole procedure. The temperature will be checked regularly and when Marie will go home she will be wide awake with a normal body temperature.
