My chinchilla won't take medicine. What treats can I use safely?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Hi, I was prescribed 2 separate oral medicines (Meloxicam and Baytril) for my Chinchilla, its been a struggle giving it to her recently, is it ok to add it or mix it with a treat to give it to her, if yes what would you recommend.

You can put the medicine in a treat but Gerald will have to eat the whole treat. You can try fried fruit or yougart. Usually they like things higher in sugar. Just make sure you are using a small amount and not over doing it with treats.
