Is it normal for my cat's wound lump to remain after drainage?

Yes it is definitely possible for an abscess to form if there was any bacteria that was introduced underneath the skin in this area. It is good that it is draining, but now Luna needs a short course of antibiotics prescribed by your vet to get this to heal well. Also having it flushed with an antiseptic (usually we use Chlorhexidine solution diluted) will help this help well. It certainly looks like this surgery site is infected. This could be due to parasites or it could be a bacterial or fungal infection. I recommend you ask your vet to have the mass cultured to determine exactly what is causing the infection. That way he/she can ensure that the correct medication is being used to resolve the infection.

This is an abscess and the white substance is puss. These are often caused by something under the skin that gets infected. It could be a thorn or from a bite. It's best if a vet examines this and explores the wound, because if the cause of the infection is not removed, then the infection will never clear. These each sound like an abscess that healed but trapped the bacteria under neath so it opened up and drained. The yellow inside may be fat or necrotic tissue. Clean it with soap and water on a cloth until you can take her to the vet. typically they heal very well and quickly but will need antibiotics to make sure the infection is gone while it is healing

If the lump is new then I would call the veterinarian and discuss it. It is very likely they would want her back in sooner if a swelling has started to appear in the last few days. It could be a simple hematoma which will resolve, but it better to be seen if possible. You can apply a cool compress to the area in the meantime. if she will tolerate it.

This lesion could be an abscessed wound, infected mass, infected cyst, etc. Anytime pus is present, this is indicative of white blood cells working to fight infection. He may need to have a needle aspirate performed to draw out a few cells with a needle and then examine them microscopically.
