Why won't my cat use her cat tree? Expert tips to encourage her.

Hi ! Have you considered to use one of those closed litter boxes ? I find these very useful to prevent litter from being thrown everywhere around the house. In order to make her use a cat tower more you could try feliway scratch, which is a new product which is very useful in getting the cat attention on a different item for scratching and it could be helpful in getting a bit more interest in the tower too as it uses certain pheromones. I think it might have a certain tinge though so as long as you don’t mind using it on the tower itself. If not you could try hiding some catnip toys, remember cats use play to mimic hunting behaviour as well, so they quite often like feathery toys or toys that can be destroyed in smaller pieces or that seem to appear and disappear... hope this helps !

It may be that the carpet feels uncomfortable on her paws! Putting a rug down and seeing if she will walk on that may encourage her to get used to it over time. Otherwise, making sure she has the ability to get across rooms in an alternative fashion may help keep Baby comfortable.

Try putting the bed somewhere else to see whether she likes the bed. She just might not like it. Kitties are funny....give them a cardboard box and they will instantly jump into it and claim it....but give them what we perceive to be a great bed, and they may not like it. If the bed is to serve as her regular sleeping place put it somewhere where she likes to spend a lot of time or feels very safe. She needs to find the bed herself. I usually recommend getting toys a cat likes to play with, and that depends on the individual cat. Some cats like to chase balls, others like toys with catnip in it, and some love feathers attached to strings. I personally really like the Catit brand of toys, they have this Senses Play Circuit with a ball in it, and it encourages a cat to play but they can do it on their own. I would go to a pet store and get a variety of five toys to see what Keke may like best. Moving into a new home is stressful for a cat, and it will take time for her adjust. Be patient. Offer her treats and praise when she comes out of hiding to see you. That will encourage her to come out more. I hope this helps!
