My cat has a white worm from its bottom. Is it a tapeworm?

Hello. This is definitely a tapeworm. Go to https://www.chewy.com ( or check with your local pet retailer ) & pick up Bayer tapeworm de-wormer for cats. That will take care of the problem for now. The worms in the photo appear to be tapeworms or, less commonly, pinworms. these can cause impactions and diarrhea, especially in kittens. Unfortunately, I am unable to prescribe medication for Coco without having examined her. However, your veterinarian can quickly determine the exact type of parasites present with a fecal sample and prescribe the appropriate treatment. Because many parasites are transmitted by fleas, it is important for Coco to be on a monthly flea preventative. You should also be careful when cleaning out her litter box to make sure you wash your hands well with soap and water, as some of these parasites can infect humans. I hope all is well!

You need a medication that contains a dewormer called Praziquantal to treat this. I would speak with your vet as there are multiple options. Your kitty has a tapeworm infection. This is not contagious to people. Cats get tapeworm by ingesting an infected flea while grooming. Tapeworm use fleas as interim hosts and this is how they can infect cats and dogs. So you should do two things now: 1) get a cat wormer that contains praziquantel which kills tapeworm. Your vet should be able to sell you the wormer, but you can also buy it in a pet shop or over the internet. 2) Make sure you do flea prevention , either via spot on or a seresto collar or a flea spray. This should take care of the problem.

These are tape worm proglottids, ie the tape worm's egg containers. Tape worm is spread by fleas. These tape worms are not contagious to people.
